Disembark means to leave a ship, aircraft, or vehicle after a journey, or to remove cargo/passengers from one. It is commonly used for transitioning from a mode of transportation onto land, often described as going ashore. It is the opposite of embark.
Usage Examples
  • Passengers: "Passengers are asked to wait until the plane has fully stopped before they disembark".
  • Travel/Cruise: "On Uniworld cruises, people disembark to visit a family-owned truffle farm".
  • Cargo/Military: "The army was able to disembark the cargo safely at the docks".
